How to install Goobity.

Follow this step-by-step setup guide to load the overlays, calibrate your alarm sensors, and secure your desktop environment.

#01

📥 Download the Installer

Get the setup file corresponding to your operating system. Goobity is currently available in native builds for Windows (64-bit setup package) and macOS (Intel / Apple Silicon architectures).

#02

⚙️ Run the Installer & Bypass Alerts

Double-click the downloaded setup file to begin installing. Since Goobity uses system hook overlays and desktop sensors to monitor mouse/mic inputs, your OS will prompt a standard unsigned developer warning.

⚠️ Windows SmartScreen Warning
When launching the installer, if Windows SmartScreen displays a warning, click "More info" and then select "Run anyway" to complete installation.
🍎 macOS Gatekeeper Warning
If macOS blocks execution, navigate to System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to the Security tab, and click "Open Anyway".

🔑 Grant System Permissions

For Goobity's security features to function properly, the app requires specific system permissions. These are prompted when the application starts for the first time:

🎤 Microphone Access: Needed by the smart sound sensor to analyze high volume spikes (like double claps or snaps) to activate or disarm the system's armed mode.

📷 Camera Access: Used by the burst camera function to take webcam snapshots when an intruder triggers the alarm.

⌨️ Input Monitoring / Accessibility: Needed to detect mouse movement and keypress events to trigger the siren and support your custom disarm keys.

👁️ Calibrate and Arm Goobity

Once installed, Goobity runs in your desktop system tray. Double-click the tray icon to launch the settings panel:

• Adjust Mic Sensitivity to calibrate sound alerts for your room.
• Set the Mouse Threshold to decide how much movement triggers the siren.
• Choose your **Disarm Key** (default is Escape) to quickly calm the alarm.
• Customize your float style: swap between Classic, Pixel, or Anime themes!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the app require Microphone and Input permissions?

Goobity is a security and focus system. The microphone is analyzed locally to detect high-amplitude sounds (like double claps or snaps) to activate armed mode, and keyboard/mouse hooks are used to alert you if someone moves your computer when armed. No audio or input data ever leaves your computer; all calculations happen locally.

Are my webcam photos uploaded anywhere?

Absolutely not. Webcam photos taken during alarm states are saved strictly in your local app data captures directory (which you can access via the "Captures" button in settings). They are never uploaded to any servers.

How do I disarm the alarm siren?

Press your configured disarm key (by default, the Escape key) or open the settings tray panel and click "Calibrate" to reset the alarm state.

How do I uninstall Goobity?

On Windows, go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, locate Goobity, and click Uninstall. On macOS, quit the app from the tray and drag the Goobity application from your Applications folder to the Trash.
